Trade – The Grand Finale

Smokin Jo – the real queen of Trade who loved her cat naps in the DJ booth

How are you feeling about this event being the FINAL one?

Is it REALLY the final…? Well it has been along run and so much fun on the way, it will be sad to have it all end but I am determined to make it a night to remember.

Who is your greatest DJ hero from Trade and why?

It has to be Malcom Duffy, I learnt so much from him, his style of mixing and track choice always impressed me and I could not help but dance to is amazing sets, he was always so humble too. Daz and Trevor are also my absolute favourites.

If you could invite any star to Trade for THE FINAL who would it be and why?

Grace Jones…need I say more!

What is your most embarrassing Trade moment?

Falling asleep in a bit of a state under the decks and letting the record run out…oops

What made Trade so unique?

The different characters that used to go there, the fact it was afterhours, everyone seemed to have their place in the club, muscle alley, trannies under the arches, rent boys by the steps, girls and gays on the dancefloor, it was a loony bin!

All Time Trade 25 Top 3

Oh blimey a pretty impossible task, what I’ll do is choose 1 vocal, 1 house and 1 techno track…

01: ‘Pride( Deeper Love) Club Mix – Civilles & Cole

Just an absolute corker of a track, I used to open my set it with very often, I used to stop Malcolm’s last track then open with this from the start, the organ riff is just so fantastic, and the anticipation of the track just builds and builds, by the time it gets to the chorus every hand was in the air and everyone was singing along, I still get tingles when I hear it. A true Classic Trade track.

02: ‘Passion’ – Gat Decor

Just a solid house track, with such a dubby bass, very hypnotic and when the piano comes it just used to raise the roof.

03: ‘The Age of Love’ Jam &Spoon mix – The Age of Love

Deep moody, druggy crazy, perfect for the loony bin that was Trade.
