The track of the summer 2014? Maybe, but who the f**k is he??

Interview by Dan Prince

Mystery person welcome to DMCWORLD, where in the world are you today?

“Hi Dan! Right now i’m in Hossegor in the south of France.”

An incredible new tune from you ‘Bullit’ has smashed it’s way to No. 1 in The Buzz Chart this week, talk us through the history of the tune…

“This track has been made quite quickly last December. 90% was done in one afternoon but was then put aside. A few days later a friend came by the studio, I played what I had done. Then we both found it cool. The next day I finished it. I did a premastering and send it to a few labels and Spinnin’ Deep  came back to me straight away.”

How does it feel to be sitting on what everyone is saying this is going to be the tune of the summer?

“It’s always great to have good feedback and to feel a special interest on one of your track. But I think that once a track is finished, signed and sent to the label, you need to carry on without wondering what it’s going to become or not. I prefer to concentrate on new ideas for new track and not repeat myself.”

Where did the samples come from, we are guessing some obscure 1960s folk album!?

“Or maybe I’m just a very obscure flute player…”

Where did you first road-test the tune, what was the reaction like?

“The first time was at a small venue near my place and the reaction has been pretty good.”

This is the first interview you have ever given…are you a shy person?

“Not after a few beers..”

We had Friend Within in the magazine last year, another producer not wishing to reveal their identity due to the fact the music under this guise was different from what we usually here from them. Is this the same sort of avenue, are you just wanting to put music out and not be judged on your other style?

“I think it’s better that people only focus on the music before knowing anything else about the artist.”

Who are some of the producers from around the world you are giving high fives to at the moment?

“I’m really into the mix between samples/instruments and electronic elements…that’s why I like for example the work of bands like Andhim & Superflu.”

Let’s kick back to you teen years, who were the artists that first got you into dance music?

“Probably the Daft Punk crew with labels like Roulé / Crydamour.”

What is the current top 10 you are spinning?

Joris delacroix – Air France (Synapson remix)
Watermat – Bullit
Klangkuenstler – Hand In Hand
Watermat – Sparks
Fat Sushi – What You Need
Ten Walls – Requiem
Superflu & Andhim – Cheesy Mobisi
Chasing Kurt ‘From The Inside’ (Henrik Schwarz remix)
Hanne & Lore – Supergirl
Andhim – Boy Boy Boy

What is coming out next from you studio wise?

“I’m working on new tracks and new ideas for next releases and DJ sets for this summer.”

And finally, when the Buzz Chart office heard I was interviewing you, they said “let’s hope it’s not Chris De Burg in disguise”. You aren’t are you dude??????

“Damn Dan, u got me…so keep the secret and thank you for the interview!”
