Beachdown will be kicking off Summer 2009 in style by setting up camp at The Sundown Garden & Show Bar during Brighton’s Festival Fringe throughout May!
The Show Bar will showcase an incredible assortment of cabaret, live music and comedy. From gameshow capers to interactive workshops and slap stick showbiz high-jinks, you can expect a veritable smorgasboard of entertainment throughout each night including latin dance classes, all male burlesque, smutty sing-a-longs, ace tribute acts, breathtaking magical feats, avante-garde opera, pop royalty and disco finery!  Full line up details are below or you can go to www.beachdownfestival.com
Beachdown Festival, which returns to its beautiful location overlooking the sea on the South Downs this August Bank Holiday weekend, has so far confirmed the following headliners: the fabulous GRACE JONES, indie rock luminaries OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, Icelandic pop queen IDA MARIA, those wonderful welsh psychedelic rockers the SUPER FURRY ANIMALS, Liverpudlian indie-rockers THE ZUTONS, institutional indie-pop darlings SAINT ETIENNE, post-punkers THE FALL and hip hop hero GRANDMASTER FLASH.
The following bands are also confirmed for this year’s event: JAMES HUNTER, JAMES TAYLOR QUARTET, DREADZONE, THE BLOCKHEADS, SECRET AFFAIR, THE SUNBURST BAND, THE RAKES, ACID HOUSE BRASS BAND by the Williams Fairey Brass Ensemble, THE APPLES, NOSTALGIA 77 OCTET, LACK OF AFRO, SNOWBOY & THE LATIN SECTION, HOSPITALITY, THE NEW MASTERSOUNDS, JAZZ COTECH DANCERS, THE FANTASTICS!, PRINCE BUSTER, GOOD TIMES with NORMAN JAY, JOEY NEGRO, HIGH CONTRAST, GILLES PETERSON, MULATU ASTATKE, THE HELIOCENTRICS, JAZZANOVA, ROB LUIS & KINNY and TRU THOUGHTS.
This year, for the first time, the cinema will take its passion for movies outside of its historic building to provide a little slice of movie heaven right in the middle of Beachdown Festival! There will be a plush cinema tent, which will present a selection of new, classic and cult films with usherettes on hand to dish out sweets and snacks.  And as part of Beachdown’s commitment to being a family friendly event, they will be bringing the full Kids’ Club experience to the festival, with special double bills of great children’s films, along with games and activities.

Beachdown Festival, saw 10,000 people descend on the South Downs last August, aims to be as carbon neutral as possible and was nominated for 2 Awards at the 2008 UK Festival Awards (Best New Festival and Best Innovation).  It has a seven-year contract with the landowner making Beachdown a regular annual event in the festival goer’s diary!

Tickets are priced at £97.50 (children under 2 go free) and are available from www.beachdownfestival.com <http://www.beachdownfestival.com/>
