Interview by Dan Prince

Andy, Jason…welcome back to DMCWORLD ahead of another massive looking summer on the White Isle. And some major news has just broke with the announcement that your waving raving residency aboard the good ship Float Your Boat will be the official nautical party for Sundays at Space, one of the most eagerly awaited parties of the season. It’s a match made in heaven. From a DJ’s point of view, what makes playing records out at sea so bloody special?

Andy : It’s a different kind of escapism and a chance for people to have just a bit more fun and go completely bonkers whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the island that you never get to see on land.

Jason : It’s simply a great combination. You go and party in the afternoon on a boat cruising the incredible coastline of Ibiza with amazing music and sound system…and then it’s off to Space to embrace what will be the final summer for one of the best clubs all time. Not a bad day out really.

Tell us some of your Float Your Boat memories…

Andy: I loved the time when DJ Sneak proper destroyed it, all the crowd were gangstered up and it was proper choppy at one point, so the swaying dance moves were insane. It’s all just proper good vibes every time.

Jason : So many, but of course playing alongside some of the best DJ talent in the world is a privileged position to be in.

A classic record that always goes down a storm at Float Your Boat…

Andy : Ooof, there are so many that go off with a bang. I think people love getting down to classic Ibiza tunes on FYB. Last year I played Playing With Knives by Bizzare Inc, and it went proper nuts. Also I’ve been enjoying playing some old Daft Punk bits, High Fidelity always sets off a wicked dancefloor groove. The crowd just love to have it banging and uplifting.

Jason : True Faith ‘ Take Me Away’ always goes down well as does Acki Kokotos & Cirez D ‘Tomorrow’ which is great for when we do the sunset cruise.

From a clubbers point of view, we only see the top half of a DJ’s body behind the ones and twos. In your opinion, what DJ out there has a cracking pair of sea legs?

Jason : Every DJ that’s any good has natural sea legs, it comes from playing and being rather smashed during the 90’s…

Andy : It’s gotta be Bysie, he’s like a ninja weaving about, spinning tunes, breakdancing and generally fuelling the party…

What are your thoughts on the whole Ushuaia taking over Space story…?

Andy : I hope they don’t do too many changes and it keeps an authentic feel. Lets all embrace the next chapter eh?

Where else can we catch you in Ibiza this summer spinning?

Andy : This year you can find me at Space, Heart, Cafe Mambo, Beachouse, el Chiringuito, Jockey Club, La Torre, OpenLab Radio…and of course Float Your Boat…

What is coming out next from you studio wise?

Andy : At the moment I’m working on a couple of nice mixes, reflecting what flavours I’ll be dropping over the summer. One of those will be a bit more of a down tempo, Hip Hop influenced vibe…

Jason : I have a 2 part EP coming out soon on Junior Sanchez’s label Bro-Bot and of course numerous releases on Playmore Terrys during the summer. I’ve had a very busy winter in the new studio…

If you could choose 1 DJ you would not want to skipper the Float Your Boat vessel due to risk of capsizing, who would fit be?

Andy : I dunno, There’s a few heavyweights out there, let’s answer that after this summer madness…

Jason : All of them. Although watching Brandon and Alex on the boat sinking it just for the laugh would be priceless…

An up and coming island resident DJ to watch out for this summer?

Andy : I’m loving the sounds from 2Vilas, they are always rocking the floor with there signature style grooves. https://www.facebook.com/2vilas/?fref=ts

Jason : I always take one under my wing, I haven’t met one yet this year, early days still…

Sundays at Space of course feature the Do Not Sleep party within the party this year, what is the longest you have ever gone in Ibiza without any kip?

Andy : Uffff I dunno, it’s hard to say Dan. Insomnia starts kicking in around August usually.

Jason : I haven’t slept since 1993…
