Hi Frank, welcome to DMC World! Where are we speaking to you from?
A: Hey guys! I’m based in Germany and right now in my studio.
For those that might not be familiar with you, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
A: Happy to introduce myself – my name is Frank Klassen and I’m a producer, cellist and live act from Germany. Recently Tomorrowland Radio chose me as one of their “Future Four” Artists and I’ll have my next release on the 5th of May on ZEHN Records. I love traveling combined with music and good food 🙂
You are a classically trained musician, who incorporates the cello into your performances, which looks amazing! Can you tell us a little more about that?
A: So basically I started studying cello when I was a little 5 year old kid. I played several genres from classical orchestra to blues rock to metal bands. Literally I love high energy music.
You have a new track coming out on ZEHN Records called Thunder Of Minds. What was the recording process like for this one, and where did the inspiration come from?
A: I get my inspiration from all over the world. Could be a video on the internet or traveling from gig to gig. I think I started this song a couple months ago when I came back into my studio after a show. Often when I play live, new ideas come up and I have to write them down asap.
How did you start working with ZEHN Records?
A: Well I met the label owners “Tube & Berger” in 2020 and we released our first collaboration, ‘Alive’ on ZEHN Records.
Your collaboration with legendary duo Tube & Berger, Alive, rocked the Beatport charts. Can you tell us a little more about the track and how you came to work with T&B?
A: Yeah I really like “Alive” – playing live and it’s an integral part of our sets.
As always a song begins with an idea. An Arp, a guitar lick, a chord progression, a melody or a beat. In 2021 I layed down some ideas and met the boys in the studio where we produced the track. In 2022 we played “Alive” all over the world from stages like Parookaville in Germany, Pasha & Ushuaïa Ibiza, to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and the legendary Green Valley Club in Brazil.
What were some career highlights for you in 2022?
A: Definitely playing for the first time on the magical Island Ibiza at Ushuaïa. Also Parookaville in Germany! It was a big honour to be chosen as one of the “Future Four” by One World Radio of Tomorrowland.
What are some of your hopes for 2023?
A: Well I hope for health and world peace, but I can tell you what my plan is for ’23 …
Releasing music, playing beautiful shows and doing my best to create beautiful art which maybe inspires, relaxes or just is enjoyed 🙂
Where can we see you play over the next few months?
A: Festival season begins and I’ll have a Germany tour and play at several festivals and clubs around Europe, where I am really looking forward to performing my new gems… End of the year maybe Asia, but that’s not confirmed yet – I’ll keep you updated on insta “Frank Klassen Music”.
