Ibiza 2012 Special
What is your favourite memory of Ibiza 2012?
“The honour to close the Amnesia Ibiza season.”
Tune of the summer?
“Ne-Yo – ‘Let Me Love You’ (Gregori Klosman Remix).”
Most overplayed record of the summer?
“Quintino & Sandro Silva – ‘Epic’.”
Favourite resident DJ on the island?
“Chuckie and Erick Morillo.”
Why is Ibiza still the best party location in the world?
“Because the venues have a unique soul/energy. And people are here only for partying. But you can still chill on beautiful beaches.”
Ibiza is now split straight down the middle with serious DJs spinning quality house and techno on one side, and DJs playing the big room bangers on the other. Discuss…
“It was predictible. Wth House Music (I should say EDM now) becoming more and more popular (commercial?), it brings more uneducated people to the Island. But in another way it’s a good thing because those same people can then go to the more underground events . In some ways it’s a win-win situation. In some other ways it’s not. Depends on who you are.”
What new party caused the biggest splash in their debut summer this year? And why?
“Ushuaia because the venue is young, and people love outdoor parties during the summer.”
Favourite restaurant and beach in Ibiza?
“Blue Marlin for both restaurant and beach. The feeling is to be somewhere else.”
Do you think the 123 Rocktronic Festival that featured the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Sting, David Guetta and Tiesto this year is an important addition to the Ibiza summer, or do you think it is a case of one too many party on an already bulging season?
“I think any event with great artists is welcome everywhere, even on Ibiza. A festival is not the same experience as a club. So good idea.”
What is the one record that will always remind you of Ibiza…?
“Axwell – ‘Watch The Sunrise’ because of the Iberican guitar which reminds me of a Mojito on the beach.”
Best venue in Ibiza and why?
“Every venue got his own charm, but as I played in Amnesia this year, I would go for Amnesia because both rooms (Terrace and Main) are full of energy.”
A lot of money has been spent on the island in recent years improving things, what do you think is the biggest improvement on the island?
“Honestly, these last years, I just saw hotel rooms and the airport. So I would say the way that Ibiza welcomes foreigners!”
What nationality are the craziest people on the dancefloor?
“UK people!”
Breakthrough artist of 2012?
“Alesso.”
If you had to pick one person to go out clubbing with in Ibiza, who would it be?
“It would be 2 persons actually, my parents, so then can see what my life is like here. They know where I’m coming from, and playing in a small Paris bar isn’t the same experience as playing in one of the main clubs on the island.”
And finally, tell us about your first trip to the white isle…
“Four years ago to be honest. The landscape was amazing, lots of parties and most important above all, I got confirmation that this is what I will do forever as an occupation in my life. Living out of a passion is priceless.”
