Leeds-based producer Jey Kurmis has been DJing all over the UK for almost ten years and producing music for around 7 years. From his first release on Phobic Records to EPs for Hot Creations, Jey has been honing his craft across ten releasesand has been getting championed by some of the biggest names in the game including Heidi, Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed Dixon and wAFF. Following on from the ‘Lil’ Nic French EP’ dropped on Hot Creations, which was included on Richy Ahmed’s massive Rinse FM compilation, Jey has had tracks featured on Defected and Resonance and 2016 looks set to be his biggest summer season to date with headline sets at many of Ibiza’s top parties as well as select festival dates…

You are coming to play at the Ibiza Send Off party on Friday May 20th at Egg LDN, can you tell us about your association with Ibiza and what’s your favourite memories as a DJ ?
Walking into DC:10 for the first time in 2006 and not being able to cope with how awesome it was!
Did Ibiza change you in any way?
That first experience was what got me interested in learning to mix. It had that much of an impact. I think I remember going home and buying some equipment with a bonus from the bank that I worked at.
A favourite with Egg LDN’s crowds, what can party people expect from your set on the 20th?
Wait for the night!!!! There will be a lot of my new tracks to play hopefully and should be around 10 by the beginning of next weekend! Right now some are finished, some are ideas, but I aim to get everything done to play…as long as the sound is flowing and has got that roll, I’m in my element.
Anyone that you’re particularly looking forward to catching DJ wise?
Yeah man, it’s Jess Bays and Ellie Cocks…both are wicked on decks and smokin’! Proper sound like!
Ibiza 2016: what are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to all my experiences this year, just like every year. Although this year I’m actually playing at clubs I could have only have dreamt of when I started. This year I’m gracing the decks at Space, Privilege and DC:10 with my residency with Paradise.
How would you describe your prouction sound?
I don’t have a specific sound. I just make what I like and go from there really. My favourite track always seems to be the newest one I’ve done. The last one is called Swann named after a friend of mine. I am currently working on around 5 of my own tracks, 2 remixes and various collabs which I am really excited about.
A career highlight?
Anything that has happened in my career big or small I am over the moon about… and really thankful to get to this position. I aim to keep delivering and hope that people support me and the sound!
