Klingande

Interview by Dan Prince

Cédric a huge welcome back to DMCWORLD…where on planet earth are you right now?

Heyyy I am in Miami! Playing at LIV this Thursday…

What is the best piece of music you have heard today since rolling out of bed?

Probably Riton – Rinse & Repeat

You have hit the ground running in 2016 with some major appearances and of course the release of ‘Losing U’ feat. Daylight. Please talk us the sound of the track and the video…

I wanted to do something different with Losing U. If you listen carefully I stick with my drums, and of course violins are acoustic recorded instruments. It’s a string quartet I recorded in Paris. I used my pop inspirations like Coldplay, for this song. Some people are a bit disappointed as it’s so far from Jubel, but I just expressed something with music like I have done from the beginning.

In the video we interpret the lyrics of this “dark” love story, with two people who meet, we imagine all their loving life, and finally we understand all of this never happened. This is inspired from the movie The Notebook too. This video was shot in France, and I’m proud of this because after two videos in Sweden, it’s good to be back in my home country.

We were in Miami for the Playground Pool party recently at the stunning Delano Hotel. Some party huh?

Wow it was so great! Real Magic. My team has been incredible to build this, we had an amazing line up with big friends like Michael Calfan, Autograf, Fabich, Lost Frequencies.. I think the crowd loved it, we had a perfect vibe and amazing energy! The video will be out in a few days, I can’t wait to do it again next year!!

What were some of the other highlights of your time at Music Music Week?

I just spent two days in Miami during MMW, it was really short, mostly promo, my pool party and then I flew out to Beyond Wonderland in San Bernardino.

Was there one tune you kept hearing everywhere?

Oh yes, “One Two” from my friend FABICH, I heard it everywhere I went.

The UK is getting really excited about your imminent return to their shores at the end of the month when you’ll be hitting Suede in Manchester, Olympia Theatre in Dublin and Roundhouse in London town. You love coming back to the UK right??

I love the UK, I love the crowd, I love Dublin and London. Honestly people in the UK are selective about the music, but when you have the chance to play there it’s always a fantastic show.

Word on the grapevine is that you have a new album coming out this year. What can you tell us about it?

Yes I’m working on a few tracks right now. I don’t know yet which song will be in this album, and how it will be constructed. I’m thinking of an original way to deliver it, as I have a bunch of unreleased tracks close to Jubel and the Saxo vibe, and all the new tracks that I’m working on now with different instruments. Nothing is fixed yet, we will see what happens, I just want to release more music, and have fun.

Will you be bringing musicians on tour with you

I’ll have musicians in Dublin and London. I’ll have my musicians at some festivals this summer in UK, Belgium and Germany. I can’t tell you any more right now.

I live in Ibiza and one of my dearest friends is the sax/singer starlet Lovely Laura. She’s ace isn’t she?

I love her! She is named Lovely Laura because she is actually one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met. And what a Showgirl. She will be on tour with me this summer too for a couple of shows in Ibiza, and at Tomorrowland.

Are you coming back to Ibiza this summer

Of course, and much more than last year. This will be announced soon, but I’ll have a few shows in July, August and September.

What are the 5 big tunes in your box this weekend…

Kungs “This Girl” undoubtedly the summer hit of 2016. Already huge in France, this track is exploding right now in Europe.

Fabich “One Two” Fabich is such a great producer, he will have releases all along the year, and they are honestly great songs with this UK House influence, I love it.

Møme “Aloha” this is exactly what I want to listen when I’m chilling at the pool !!

Else “Chemical Face” these French guys have a perfect sound. Really clean, really inspiring.

Riton “Rinse & Repeat” it’s just what I want to hear when I go out right now.

And finally, a festival you just cannot wait for this year…

This one is tough! There are a few things that I can’t announce yet, but of course Tomorrowland, and Lollapalooza in Berlin!
