Cazzette

World get ready. The next installment from the At Night family. Superstar city.

Sebastian, Alex welcome to the DMCWORLD. It sounds like you grew up in musical households, what artists first turned you towards the sounds of electronica?
"Both our parents actually had a big interest in music. Sebastian's father used to be a DJ in Rome and my father had a disturbing passion for euro-disco in the 90's while driving. That might be an explanation of how we ended up in the electronic scene instead of playing the violin haha."

How did you first meet and what were your initial thoughts on each other?

"We met through the internet, via an online forum to be specific (yeah we know how it sounds ha ha!). It was a while back when we still were kinda new to the whole electronic-scene and we produced all kinds of genres just to get a hang of it."

What did your parents think of your choice of career?

"It's hard for them to understand since they aren't very familiar with the scene and the genre over all but they approve of it and want to see us succeed."

What’s the best way to describe your sound…electro dubstep?

"Ash coined the phrase Dub-House for our music! It's a fusion between dubstep and house with a flavour of electro-house. It may seem a bit weird but we don't want to limit ourselves to producing just one type of sound."

Tell us about the man of the moment, your manager Ash Pournouri – how did you all hook up in the first place and what are his main qualities as a manager?
"Getting in touch with Ash on e-mail is probably the most important step in our career and will remain to be. Ash's main qualities are that he actually is a part of CAZZETTE and helps us out with ideas and puts our productions in the right direction. We always run everything by him and he tells us what to improve/change. It's great for everyone since he always hears stuff we don't. We would like say that he is a manager with super-powers haha!"

A very funny story concerning when you were about to go on stage in New York at Lavo with a young lady…tell us the tale…
"Haha, yeah, that one. Well this chick pulls Alex arm and tells him with some kind of accent (pretty sure it was Russian) "You know, I'm a very rich girl". Alex had no idea how to handle that and is still being haunted in his dreams about that crazy suga mama!"

What is the craziest reaction you have ever seen on a dancefloor?

"Super-Glow in Washington was freakin' nuts."

Who were your DJ heroes growing up?

"Axwell, Ingrosso, Dada Life, Daft Punk are some of the main ones but of course there's a lot more."

What are the big 10 tunes you are spinning at the moment?

Dada Life - Rolling Stone T-Shirt (Cazzette RMX)
Tiesto - Maximal Crazy
Knife Party - Fire Hive Nadi Ali
Spencer & Hill - Beleive It (Cazzette RMX)
Swanky Tunes & Rehab - Sending My Love (Cazzette RMX)
Diplo & Chris Brown - Look At Me Now (Cazzette RMX)
David Guetta - Titanium (Cazzette RMX)
Jonas Turn - Boss (Original Mix)
Avicii - Levels (Cazzette RMX)
Eric Turner Ft. Lupe Fiasco - Angels & Stars (Cazzette RMX)

Who has been the biggest musical hero of 2011?

"For us, Avicii. No doubt. And Ash."

What country do you enjoy travelling to play the most? Who gives you the wildest reaction?

"The US overall has been CRAZY."

Who brings what to the studio – in other words, who is good at what?

"It's very different from one track to another. We just work!"

Will we find Ash on the writers credits for future Cazzettes projects?

"Since Ash is heavily involved and Executive Producer, that might very well happen!!"

Next summer will we find you guys playing in Ibiza or is America still the big prize?

"We intend to be EVERYWHERE in 2012"

What has been the best gig of the year?

"We can't pick a favourite actually since we are fresh to the scene. We are simply super-happy to have gotten this chance and to just get out there!"

How did your remix of 'Save The World' come about?

"Ash's idea...we wanted to give one of the biggest tracks of the year a new and different touch since the original is very melodic and not that rough. That was actually the first project we ever did with Ash."

So we come back to yours, what are the big Back To Mine you are spinning?

"We spin a lil' bit of everything, but we will try out Knife Party's new EP. No doubt. That's not house is it?"

Have you a big tune ready for us all in 2012?
"We are working on it at the moment. Something to do with MODE.
We are also going to set up a new studio (not decided where yet) and then just continue to do our thing and expand."

Do you think that the DJ Top 100 poll is relevant any more?

"Not really unless you're in the Top10."

Tell us about your big New Years Eve party…

"There will be both Russians and Swedes behind the decks. Not exactly known to be the most calm people in the world!"

And finally, what are your New Years resolutions?

"Both produce and spin more and create something new on the scene!"
