Ibiza 2012 Special

What is your favourite memory of Ibiza 2012?

“Without doubt playing for the first time on the Space Terrace, has been top of the wish list ever since going to Ibiza in the late 90’s. Amazing day and then played back there the following month.”

Tune of the summer?

“In our sets has to be Joris Voorn ‘Goodbye Fly’ – massive reactions every time we played it over there.”

Most overplayed record of the summer?

“The best crossover record for a long long time and were very guilty of over hammering it – “Somebody I Used To Know”, one of the various booty’s.”

Favourite resident DJ on the island?

“Sean Hughes – Cream.”

Why is Ibiza still the best party location in the world?

“Yeah without doubt, Ibiza’s still the place, the clubs are amazing, promoters constantly pushing the boundaries and booking the cream of all DJ;s across the field.”

Ibiza is now split straight down the middle with serious DJs spinning quality house and techno on one side, and DJs playing the big room bangers on the other. Discuss…

“Certainly is, we think it’s a good thing, great to have diversity obviously like everyone if you’re into one side you’re generally not going to be into the drastically different other. Think it’s a bit of a shame that so many people seem to be playing the same music, there’s more producers around than ever and shit loads of new music around if you hunt for it.”

What new party caused the biggest splash in their debut summer this year? And why?

“Unfortunately we didn’t get to go, but Solomun’s party was meant to have been a different class, fair play, amazing talent and well deserved.”

Favourite restaurant and beach in Ibiza?

“S’illa Des Bosc / Cala Conta.”

Do you think the 123 Rocktronic Festival that featured the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Sting, David Guetta and Tiesto this year is an important addition to the Ibiza summer, or do you think it is a case of one too many party on an already bulging season?

“Don’t really know a lot about it, heard a lot of the locals were left out, which seems to be a bit school boy. Personally not to sure if new festival’s are needed in Ibiza, think most of people go there for the legendary clubs, so would agree with one too many.”

What is the one record that will always remind you of Ibiza…?

“Aztec Mystic, Rolando – Knights of the Jaguar, heard it the first time in Ibiza and pretty much every year since. Carl Cox finished it with at Space last year and the reaction was immense. The track screams Ibiza and have some very fond clubbing memories of it getting dropped.”

Best venue in Ibiza and why?

“Space – amazing experiences and memories for our kind of music, hands down best venue.”

A lot of money has been spent on the island in recent years improving things, what do you think is the biggest improvement on the island?

“It’s great to have legit open air parties back again, not necessarily keen on all the programming, but would say Ushuaia.”

What nationality are the craziest people on the dancefloor?

“English closely followed by the Italians.”

Breakthrough artist of 2012?

“Tom Flynn.”

If you had to pick one person to go out clubbing with in Ibiza, who would it be?

“If he was still around Gerorge Best.”

And finally, tell us about your first trip to the white isle…

“We both went together in 1997 and we played at Bora Bora. We were surrounded by my mates from back home, an amazing party and can’t remember a great deal from the few days we were all there.”
