THE INFADELS

What’s The Best Night Out You’ve ever Had?
The best night I ever had was when the Infadels won two Diesel New Music awards, played a gig at Fabric with Mylo and Kasabian, Met John Peel, signed a record deal and chatted with Keith Flint and Mick Jones. All in the same day!
What’s Your Favourite Club?
The wall of sound club nights at Fabric are absolutely magic. I have seen so many great bands and DJ’s. The Glimmers absolutely destroyed fabric when we played with them. Erol and Stuart Price have also set the precedent for DJ’ing. Soulwax previewed their ‘Nite Versions’ set. It’s just such a great night. The only bad side is that you won’t get home til it’s light!
What’s Your Favourite Record Of All-time?
My favourite record of all time has to be Steve Reich’s 18 Musicians. It’s the most beautiful music you will ever hear. 18 musicians playing loop based music live creating a blueprint for Underworld and all those dance bands that followed. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that record in few peoples collections.
What Record Can’t You Stand?
Anything by Abba, I hate them so bad, they’re truly shit! Robbie Williams, he’s shit too. Oh, and a lot of those really popular new indie Classics. Give them a rest for a while; buy some baggy jeans and some purple fly rave glasses.
What Record Did You Lose Your Virginity Too?
Setting Sun by the Chemical Brothers. I’d really found myself and this music blew my head apart. I had these purple fly sunglasses which I wore throughout the whole Chemical Bro’s gig, the rest was history!
What Was The Last Record You Bought?
My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts by Brian Eno & David Byrne. It’s completely outstanding in every sense. It was so way ahead of it’s time that it hurts. You here the start of sampling, combined with African rhythms and a real desire to go forwards into the future. Amazing!
Name Three Of Your Biggest Influences…..
Brian Eno, Liam Howlett (not new album ? ) and my dad for playing me so many fantastic albums over the years.
Who Would Play You In ‘Matt Infadel in the return of the Global Hypercolour Space Ravers!’
Leroy Thornhill from the Prodigy. He’s like the good looking version and much better at Crazy Leg raving!
What’s Your Dream?
To communicate through music and contribute to people lives in a positive way.
How Do You Escape?
Camel riding in the Sahara desert, climbing to the top of a 100-meter high sand dune and watching the sun rise before retiring to a Berber camp and playing drums. Well obviously I have only done this once, but it was great!
What Is Your Favourite Possession?
My Prophet 5 keyboard. Technically it’s not mine, it’s Alex’s dads, but I have it at the moment and it’s a monster. I call her Betty.
What Is Your Life Philosophy?
Go through life with confidence and a sense of humour. My uncle told me that. He’s a self made millionaire and a happily married man of 67 years. Some people you just gotta listen too.
What’s In Your Pockets?
A hundred quid, twenty euros, four dirham, a mobile and a passport. Ready for action!
If You Were An Animal, What Animal and Why?
I would love to be a Polar bear or a Lion but I’m told that I’m more of a badger. Like Badger from Wind In The Willows.
You Are Having A Party, Whom Dead Or Alive Is On The Guest List?
I think I would have a very small dinner party so I could talk to everyone and I’d invite Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Mick Jones, PJ Harvey, Margaret Atwood, Lauren Lavern and my girl. Sorted!
When Was The Last Time You Embarrassed Yourself?
I embarrass myself on a regular basis. The last time was giving myself alcohol poisoning on the Scandinavian tour and having to take a bucket on stage with me. I couldn’t feel my hands and had to leave the stage three quarters of the way through the big acid wig out to puke! Not cool!
Tell Us Something That We Don’t Know About ‘Matt Gooderson’
That I record all my vocals completely and totally butt naked.
