The first time we had breakspoll at Fabric was pretty damn special, live acts pouring all over the bill a lineup to satiate any breakbeat glutton and a smoothly run event. The atmosphere astounded me – I wasn’t sure how well the breakspoll atmosphere (it’s always a very friendly and familial event) would translate into fabric but it was perfect. Highlights included Krafty Kuts V’s Terry Hooligans event closing b2b DJ set – it took half an hour after closing time before Fabric pulled the plug.
What’s Your Favourite Club?
Mike – My favourite club ever is Liquidation in liverpool – its been going for well over 15 years, and has a room full of motown/sixties and a room for the students (indie, hip hop, cool dance tracks etc). My favourite breakbeat club would have to be Spectrum in Nottingham, every time I visit as a punter or as a performer its always a wicked atmosphere and a great laugh.
What’s Your Favourite Record Of All-time?
Mike – Oooohh. Either Massive Attack – Unfinished Sympathy, DJ Kool – Let me clear my throat, Deadly Avenger – King Tito’s Gloves, Plump DJs remix of Galaxy, Beetles – the white album or Pavement – Slanted & Enchanted, don’t make me pick one I’d feel like I was cheating on the others 😉
What Record Can’t You Stand?
Mike – Any Trance, Goth or Happy Hardcore. Also got a strong distaste for Morrissey.
What Record Did You Lose Your Virginity Too?
Mike – Can’t remember – probably guns n roses – appetite for destruction (it was at a party around that time it was the only album I’d listen to).

Mike – Bob De Niro.
What’s Your Dream?
Mike – Well my dream of having kids and a happy family have been accomplished, so just need to travel the world and win the lottery so that I can quit work and concentrate on breakspoll full time.

Mike – Outside for a ciggy (although I’m trying to quit for the millionth time), failing that reading daft stuff on nuskoolbreaks.co.uk.

Mike – A leaf cutter ant receiving therapy for workaholism, because Im a tireless worker and hate not being busy (but moan continually about being too busy).

Mike – Tim & I had been running breakspoll for over two years before we realised we had the same birth date (couple of hours between each other), breakspoll twins separated at birth and sent to opposite ends of the country. Guess whoever tried to separate us didn’t premunite the birth of the internet eh!
