Ibiza 2012 Special
What is your favourite memory of Ibiza 2012?
”The week of IMS was great fun, we played the Space opening, were involved in the Conference but also had some time off to chill.”
Tune of the summer?
”For us it has to be the IMS anthem that we were asked to write, it’s called ‘Matter of Time’ and it features Green Velvet on vox.”
Most overplayed record of the summer?
”I can’t really think of anything this year to be honest, maybe this year stands out that it doesn’t have a really overplayed track, not the nights we were there anyways.”
Why is Ibiza still the best party location in the world?
”For me, what makes ibiza special is the mix of the madness and the beauty of the Island. I like to get away and explore when I am over there. But if you want to go with your mates and go crazy for a few weeks it’s still the place to be.”
Ibiza is now split straight down the middle with serious DJs spinning quality house and techno on one side, and DJs playing the big room bangers on the other. Discuss…
“I don’t think theres anything new with that. I think most people start getting into dance music in one form and then as they get older their tastes maybe develop into another type of music. The good thing is that there is always something new going on and something new to discover.”
What new party caused the biggest splash in their debut summer this year? And why?
”Pass – we didn’t do any brand new parties this year, but Space as always seemed to get the line up just right. The shows we did for them this year were a lot of fun.”
Favourite restaurant and beach in Ibiza?
“PK2, a little slice of heaven…”
Do you think the 123 Rocktronic Festival that featured the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Sting, David Guetta and Tiesto this year is an important addition to the Ibiza summer, or do you think it is a case of one too many party on an already bulging season?
”I think it’s nice to see people trying to push the envelope and not always play safe. We played at the event and it was great. Ibiza doesn’t really have a standard ‘music festival’ so maybe there is a market for this event. I think in a few years this could be a really established festival on the world market.”
What is the one record that will always remind you of Ibiza…?
”At the minute its Guy Gerber – ‘Timing’.”
Best venue in Ibiza and why?
”Space, because it’s Space.”
A lot of money has been spent on the island in recent years improving things, what do you think is the biggest improvement on the island?
”Obviously the roads are pretty great, now the taxi men can drive you more or less anywhere at truly terrifying speeds.”
What nationality are the craziest people on the dancefloor?
”It’s got to be Irish (we have to say that).”
Breakthrough artist of 2012?
”Gesaffelstein.”
If you had to pick one person to go out clubbing with in Ibiza, who would it be?
”My girlfriend of course.”
And finally, tell us about your first trip to the white isle…
”That is a truly horrific tale that will only ruin my day if I have to retell it. Needless to say it was for a show that didn’t go too good.”
