Toolroom #RESET SPECIAL with Adrian Hour

Bringing the new techno energy to the dancefloor

Interview : Dan Prince

Adrian welcome to DMCWORLD…where in the world are you today?

“Hi Dan!! Thanks a lot! At the moment, I’m in Ibiza.”

A very exciting time for the whole Toolroom team right now with the launch of #RESET…when did you first begin to get involved in the next development of one of the world’s biggest labels?

“I have received help and support from Mark Knight over the past couple of years, but this summer, when I arrived in Europe, I received the proposal to start something BIG with Toolroom, and that is what we have done.”

Over at DMCWORLD we think it’s a very courageous and forward thinking move when a major company in the dance music world admit it’s time for a change. What were your initial thoughts, did you agree?

“Yes, that is the reason why I choose them: they are open minded; they look for change; they believe in something more. The world is changing, always, and we should adapt ourselves, to really grow as a person, like team, company, etc.”

#RESET is a three pronged move forward with yourself joined by Mark Knight and Weiss taking care of musical direction. Where do you see your role expanding into…?

“I think I’m responsible for creating, sharing and transmitting that Techno energy to all the people in the world.”

What can you tell us about the new music that Toolroom will be bringing us?

“Well, it will be simply amazing. I think the people will really love it! We’ll be mixing the best House, Deep House, Tech House and Techno all in one label.”

What do you cite as the main strengths of Toolroom?

“They no the music, the industry and their fans and they focus on the music they love.”

When talking about South American techno music, the first name that springs to mind is you. The king of Buenos Aires! Can you recall when you first began to fall in love with electronic music?

“Haha! I was very young when I first heard tracks from Depeche Mode that my father was listening to. From that moment, I fell in love with electronic music. So, I started to look for more and entered into this new world, listening to the radio and recording music on my cassettes. I remember, I went to my first rave at 13 years old – of course, I went with my parents – we had such a good time!”

How important for you as an artist is it to travel and see new cultures?

“I think it is 95% of my inspiration – when I travel, I get new ideas, hear new sounds; my ears are open and feel everything better – so I will do it every year.”

“Creating music is like opening windows inside my subconsciousness”. Please discuss your quote…

“Well, I said that because my creativity is led by my subconsciousness, rather than technicalities. Simply put, I let my imagination go and do not force it. So when I create music, all my spirit, feelings and thoughts come up and you can see my personality through my music.

What are the big 5 tunes in your box right now?

Gary Beck – Get Together

Adrian Hour – Everywhere

Adrian Hour – Lost In Groove

Moby, Skylar Grey – The Last Day (Coyu & Ramiro Lopez Remix)

Adrian Hour – I Don’t Care

2014 has been a memorable year for you… what have been some of the stand out gigs for you this year?

“Yes, this year has been amazing for me: some big gigs in Svojsice Festival (Czech Rep.), the Toolroom events in Ibiza and Suara Night at Booom! (Ibiza).”

We were in the crowd at Booom! last week, Ibiza loves you man!

“Haha, thanks a lot!! I love to exchange good energy with the crowd.”

And finally, from a personal point of view…what is coming out next from you studio wise…?

“From the studio, lots of new tracks are coming, some releases and an album on Toolroom, Mindshake and Suara.”
