City Secrets
Around The Globe with Dance Music’s Coolest

A – Amsterdam hosted by Dutch legend Don Diablo

What are the best clubs to go to in your home city at the moment?
“I am doing the release party for my forthcoming album through Sony BMG at a  cool club called Jimmy Woo’ next week together with the Audio Bullys.  Definitely a good place to hang around, cool people, a great soundsystem and  nice deco. You also can’t go wrong at Paradiso, Melkweg and The Sugar  Factory – cool venues and strong programming – week after week…”

What restaurants would you recommend we eat at?
“Good question! I’d say stay away from the heart of the city, tourist  restaurants suck. If you go to a street in the city centre  called Reguliersdwarsstraat, (also known as the gay street) you will  definitely find many great restaurants, depending on which flavour you prefer.”

What DJs around town are you enjoying?
“RogerSeventyTwo, Grand Jackson and Estaw – great up n’ coming new names who  have all delivered a rocking remix for one of my tracks in the past.”

What are the cool bars we should be getting drunk in?
“Diep, Nomads and Arc – but I don’t drink!”

What’s the best ‘coffee shop’ in town?
“The most votes will probably go to De Dampkring, but then again, how bad  can a coffee shop be!? Get high and get out of it!”

What are the best clothes stores we should go to?
“SPRMRKT at the Rozengracht. Didato at the PC Hooftstraat and there are  lots of cool vintage shops, like Zipper around an area called De 9  Straatjes’ (The Nine Streets).”

What’s the worst part of living in Amsterdam?
“Traffic. And it’s a bitch to park your car near the city centre. Besides that, it’s a great city live in, very multicultural and lots of things to see and do.”

Tell us somewhere in Amsterdam that we don’t know about that we should go to…
“Unfortunately everybody always goes to the Red Light District first, followed by Madame Tussaud and then they head off to a random coffee shop.  If and when you are in Amsterdam, you should definitely check out one of our many great museums like The Rijksmuseum, The Stedelijk Museum and if you are  more into your modern art by young painters, check out Prints and the Revolution who do very cool expositions every now and then.”
