“I would have to say Danny’s parties at Groove Jet in the mid to late 90s were amazing. So were the ‘Magic Session’ parties!!”
What do you think is the biggest ever Miami tune that you think Miami has broken?
“Wow, so many! I think probably “Stardust.”. I remember Pedro Winter and Thomas giving me that White Label. That was big. I would say also WMC definitely broke my single ‘Be With You’ featuring Dajae. That was amazing to hear it everywhere…”
Best ever X-Mix party in Miami?
“Best was probably Opium Garden. Everyone had their vibe, that’s what’s great about X-Mix parties, a ‘lil something for everyone!”
Why do you think Miami is so important to the dance music world calendar?
“Because every industry needs a convention and a conference of some sort, and dance music is always at the center of the world. Most dance music is centered around NYC and London, and the weather in both cities sucks! Imagine WMC in London!! Wow, no way! Thank you Miami, escapism at its best!”
What are the best club venues in Miami?
“Studio A, Revolver (Pawnshop), Mansion is always fun, Cameo, there are tonnes!”
Best restaurant?
“Joe’s Stone Crab and Lario’s on the Beach”
How important, as a producer, is Miami to leash huge Summer dancefloor smashes?
“Well at the time I don’t think it’s that important because of the internet. Music is so much more accessible, the days of getting that exclusive white label on vinyl or CD are pretty much gone. But it’s still fun to go!”
Who were your idols/influences growing up musically…
“As far as dance music is concerned, I would definitely say Masters At Work (during their early to mid 90s era), Todd Terry, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Carl Craig, Dave Clarke. For music in general, I would say Prince, Kate Bush, Trevor Horn, Grace Jones, Beatles, Mantronix, etc. The list can go on and on!”
What parties are you looking forward to the most WMC 2009?
“X-Mix, Brobot, Revolver – and anything with some attitude of great dance music, NO PURISTS PLEASE! Just fun!!”
What is the best UK club you have ever played at?
“I would have to say Cream in Liverpool. I loved that place. Bar Rumba in London, in those classic Luke and Derrick Carter days. And of course Fabric!”
