Up All Night

The Casio Burlington Project. Corsica Studios, Unit4/5, Elephant Road, London SE17. August 16th. We love a bit of scandal down at DMC. The Burlington’s venue at Unit 7 has been closed for 28 days by the police so a change of venue awaits us for what looks a better option than kicking back on your sofa with a can of Tetley in front of Ant & Dec. Chicago’s Derrick Carter will be headlining the proceedings making us go loop the loop with old school disco, house, soul, jazz and “whatever catches his fancy”. Del boy is one of the rare purveyors of all things pioneering in dance music today and this ain’t a night to miss. Motorcitysoul, Ryan O Gorman, Geddes, Tom Demac and Craig Torrance will also be in attendance at this two roomed affair – tenners in advance and fifteen squid on the door…  (www.burlingtonproject.co.uk)

Roots Manuva @ Tayo’s Carnival Tracksuit Party, Paradise By Way of Kensal Green, London W10. August 24th. (0208 969 0098) Anyone in the know will know, Tayo’s Tracksuit parties are the don. They are the funniest and coolest events you will ever go to and this time up sees Roots Manuva performing live and showcasing old favourites and new tracks from his forthcoming album ‘Slime & Reason’. Beeny & Jadell, Joe Ransom, Ben Westbeech, The Infamous Nut Company and of course Tayo will be losing the plot Carnival style plus there are some special guests dropping in on the decks that we are not allowed to mention. Miss this one at your peril Beryl…

Balearic Jukebox presents Come Together. Esca, Brighton August 29th (01273 779 793) Well here is a blast from the past that definitely needs your attention. They claim it’s going to be a “night of mayhem”. Either these boys don’t know their stuff or they don’t know who they’ve booked – mayhem won’t be half the trouble.  Get your glad rags and trainers on for a serious session with speeeeeeeeeecial guests Kevin Swain from D.O.P/Guerilla Records fame kicking the shit with Chris Day a la Chris & James. Both lads (if they can get out of their wheelchairs) will be spinning Italo/Balearic sets and you know what, it’s free to get in if you mention DMC at the door. This is an unmissable evening by the seaside folks…
