Andrew Thomas
Between Buildings And Trees
Kompat

This is Andrew Thomas’ second album as one of Kompakt’s ambient roster, and it’s a valuable piece of blissed out instrumental music, easing the way in or out of the night time. Thomas has a persuasive way with his orchestration, with effects often displacing the music to the near or far points of the sound picture. The temperatures alternate nicely throughout, whether in the cold weather piano of ‘Above The World So High’ or the warm ambience of ‘A Dream Of A Spider’, while the stillness of ‘Moth In Mouth’ is pure, horizontal relaxation. The album is best listened to as a complete piece of music, its 40 minutes unfolding naturally and easily, as if part of a dream.
