IN A REALIZED LUCK OF IMMANCENCE
PERC TRAX

This pair have been letting rip with a constant stream of kek-busting dancefloor destroyers over the last few years but, maybe incredibly, seem to top themselves with each one. Last year’s ‘Total Departure’ was huge but this could top it, and not through simply pushing the right mayhem buttons. ‘Mistral’ works through its simplicity and subtlety, riding a galloping groove underpinned with behemoth turbo-nad of a rhythmic bass-heave, over which intricate melodies dogfight in the ether complemented by tinkling percussive intricacy. The pair are known for their drops but this one not only takes the cake but drop-kicks it into the stratosphere with jet-plane force and killer bass re-entry. Drenched in an unusually-panoramic atmosphere, the effect can only be devastating and it deserves to be one of the biggest tunes of the year. If that wasn’t enough, Amsterdam producer Anton Pieete keeps the feel and moulds the bass into a funked cruise-missile for later on when the club’s in ruins after the damage done by the original. Bedrock’s not having a bad year either.
