Bibio
The Apple And The Tooth
Warp

Two albums in a year is prolific by anybody’s standards, and Bibio follows up with a third that contains four new tracks, sitting alongside remixes from the likes of Clark and Wax Stag. Bibio (aka Stephen Wilkinson) has an extraordinary sonic imagination that comes across immediately in the new tracks, which continue his healthy habit of disregarding styles and rhythms that in reality ought not to mix. In the remixes we move from the more graceful Wax Stag take on ”Sugarette’, with its oddly placed helium vocal, to the gorgeously restrained Gentleman Losers’ Whispers In The Rain reworking of ‘Haikuesque’. This is not one of those albums that rides on the coat-tails of previous releases, it works well in its own right, showing off the inventiveness of its author and his employed remixers.
