King Street Grooves’ Ananda Project have been a regular source of sultry
house grooves for almost a decade now, and their quality threshold shows no
sign of dipping on this excellent record. Quite the opposite in fact, as
‘Fire Flower’ is a seamlessly blended album of heat soaked house, with the
customary soul and even gospel inflections. Whether it’s the soaring vocals
of ‘Space And Time’ or the deep, mellow grooves of ‘Many Starred Sky’, an
excellent poolside track, this album gets you under its spell pretty fast.
Occasionally a little more depth wouldn’t go amiss emotionally, but that’s a
small price to pay when the grooves are this alluring!
