The Finger Lickin’ chiefs have a record of their own finally, but are very modest about it, as their first album proper – a ‘best of so far’ – sneaks in on the back of a selection of quality remix material. The ‘Originals’ CD brings together their biggest tunes to date, big breaks tracks like ‘The Drum’, ‘Sukdat’, ‘Acid Punch’ and ‘Dirty Waltzer’, all beefy breaks cuts that hand together well in mixed form. The ‘Re-Licked’ CD sees Kraak & Smaak flexing their muscles on ‘Suk On Dis’, Deepcut going acid on ‘Trouble’, Merka bringing out the disco in ‘Gonna Keep On’ and Nick Thayer with a bruising update of ‘Shake Em Down’. Lively, powerful stuff.
