The Swiss producer blends a little Style Council, a touch of Depeche Mode and a dose of Human League with contemporary beats and basslines on this strong collection that’s typified by the current single ‘Closer’: a well thought-out head-swimmingly elaborate sound-collage clearly inspired by the likes of Giorgio Moroder combined with dance music’s current penchant for guitars and JD Davis’ stark delivery. Everything about the production and that album’s arrangement is perfectly well established: the bassline and synth flurries are blended with ease to create a smooth backdrop atop which sits a series of filters and squelches to reinforce the jittery rhythms and trippy, yet in the main monotone vocal contributions. Continually mixed to create an aurally pleasing journey, highs include the morose ‘Lover’, the ethereal ‘My Memory’ and the retro electro-etched ‘1987’.
