Clinic
Do It!
Domino

“Do It!” is Clinic’s fifth studio album, and it pushes the boundaries even further, with the band managing to keep their very own distinctive and unsettling style and sound. “Do It!” sees Clinic pulling on the platform boots and opening with the glam rock stomp of “Memories”, more David Bowie & Mick Ronson rather than Gary Glitter. “Tomorrow” is an acoustic slap & strum that’d sit perfectly on “The Wickerman” soundtrack, closely followed by the current energetic single “The Witch”. Clinic take time to relax in the shimmering lounge with the beautiful “Free Not Free”, but things are not what they seem. “Shopping Bag” is take no prisoners psychobilly. “Chorpus Christi” hovers on spooked psychedelics. “Emotions” runs on 1950’s kitsch with a sprinkling of The Flaming Lips. “High Coin” treads ground somewhere between The Doors and Death In Vegas. “Mary & Eddie” puts an unnerving twist on traditional folk, shooting it through with jagged electronics. “Winged Wheel” is a belting swamp stomp, and last but most definitely not least, “Coda” brings “Do It!” to an at the village fair on LSD close. Clinic have certainly done it again. Keep taking the tablets chaps.
