Information

You’re unlikely to have heard much of Dan Lissvik before – that is, unless you’re a particularly big fan of Gothenburg duo Studio. If you are, you’ll know he’s one half of an act that make slow moving but wonderfully involving dance music, its loping beats surprisingly danceable. Some of that style translates to Lissvik’s solo work, which remains modestly titled, but he’s ready to add some Eastern flavours from the start, which means that occasionally the Thievery Corporation come to mind. That is, until the old Studio asserts its style in the untitled A3, which grows with no grip on time in its 11 minutes. A5 is good, too, beginning with the murmurings of a flute-like sound before opening out into a strongly rhythmic track. An excellent album this – far more than just a solo hobby, this is nearly as good as the music of the West Coasters themselves.
