Dapayk Solo
Devil’s House
Mo’s Ferry

There’s a sinister undertow to Dapayk’s latest album which takes the current breaks fixation of cooking up the ugliest riffs possible while stamping his own personality on its voluminous posterior. Tracks like ‘Scratch The Surface’ thankfully go beyond the safe saminess of this aren’t-we-naughty breaks fad and throw up real monstrous heaves from Satan’s bowels. Elsewhere there’s minimal scrunching on ‘A Saw Attacks’ and the deep ‘Child Of The Night’ ‘Niro’ nods at dubstep. The closing ‘Skit’ and ‘A Wave That Leads You Home’ sequence work in ambience showing that the man’s got a wide electronic palette, currently being used to scare and challenge.
