By Darkel, understand Jean-Benoit Dunckel. After nearly a decade as one half of Air, the Parisian has decided to write a solo album, not that all things Air have been relocated to second plan, the new album is pencilled for early 2007. These last eighteen months whilst the pair were putting together Charlotte Gainsbourg’s album, Dunkel spent many nights developing his own intimate project. From piano ballad (‘Some Men’), John Carpenter flavoured electro (‘Be My Friend’) to camp rock (‘TV Destroy’, a punky ‘Sexy Boy’) and Gallic-country (‘At The End Of The Sky’), ‘Darkel’ offers ten vocal songs that, if not exactly in the same exquisite mould as Air’s regular output, still manage to take you places.
