David Borsu’s hotly anticipated debut album doesn’t disappoint, his insights of the decidedly groovy variety. His style seems to be rooted in jazz but this is usually blended in with some funky beats and bass to form uplifting tracks such as ‘Hosanna’, or the Friday night flavours of ‘Mannequin Mankind’, a nod in the direction of Motown. Borsu does a good smoky late night number as well, the best example being ‘Nocturne’, which kicks back with ease. A record full of style and invention.
