As it happens DJ Disse seems to change colour a lot, so he must be easily bored! That’s not necessarily a criticism though, as this album is an intriguing blend of styles that comes out with dub as the predominant beat. He’s not averse to house though, nor does he think twice about introducing Arabic and Balkan melodies to the mix, with his Djuma Soundsystem alias coming more to the fore. His cover of ‘Walk On The Wild Side’ has appeared on several compilations now, a softly chugging dub beat blending surprisingly well with the familiar bass slide. The Doors too appear in ‘Break On Through’, and it’s to his credit that these separate elements make a highly listenable and originally thought out album.
