Previous DJ Fresh singles have hinted he is on to something special – or even on something special – but they still don’t prepare for the thrilling impact of this album. Few styles give off as much adrenalin as drum ‘n’ bass does when it’s used properly, and make no mistake, DJ Fresh knows how to use it. ‘Kryptonite’ takes off with a huge release of energy, but it also knows when to pause a bit and introduce some more moody dubstep and chunky funk. With well chosen vocalists and a series of beats that will make you dance like a madman, Fresh is on the money the whole way through, and gets the structure spot on too. The result is one of the most vibrant dance music albums you’ll hear all year – and a massive addition to the d ‘n’ b canon. Outstanding.
