Surely everyone is familiar with the Masters At Work sound by now, but for those that aren’t this is as good a place as any to start. Louie Vega and Kenny Dope take a mix each, and Vega goes for a sundown set that brings forward some sultry, heat-soaked numbers from Hardrive, South Street Players and The Mole People and puts them alongside established biggies from Ultra Nate and Erick Morillo. Dope, meanwhile, does what he’s best at with an upfront mix of house and disco, with Barbara Tucker (‘Beautiful People’), Morillo again (Dancin’) and a reminder of the superb ‘Reach’ that Louie Vega recorded under the pseudonym of Lil Mo’ Yin Yang back in ’96. As expected then – and reliably good.
