Eat Static
Back To Earth
Interchill

It’s been a while coming but this is Eat Static’s debut record on the excellent Canadian imprint Interchill. It’s adventurous, too, if sometimes a bit odd – the synthetic horn section of ‘Epoch Calypso’ a case in point – but when it works it’s a treat, as in the sweep of Arabic strings on ‘Pharoah’. Elsewhere a chilled out jazz trio is incorporated to good effect in ‘Flippity Flippity’, while the more familiar slowed-down, atmospheric tracks are as high quality as ever from this source. Good to see Eat Static throwing in a few curveballs, indicating their creativity is as sharp as ever. Fans will be pleased.
