Aussie producer Fdel has made a brassy album that combines a love of hip hop with all manner of other styles, predominantly funky ones, and throwing caution to the wind with groovy beats and snatches of vocal. ‘Get Up On Ya Feet’ is a good indication of how he does things, a lively Andean riff given brass stabs and a soulful vocal as company. This entertaining if not particularly subtle take on funk music proves difficult to resist – you’ll be responding to Fdel’s feel good rhythms and riffs long before the end of the record. Final track ‘Let The Beat Kick’ will clinch it!
