Hollywood Mon Amour

Marc Collin is the man behind the concept, as well as founding Hollywood Mon Amour, he is also the Parisian that put the much loved Nouvelle Vague on the map. With HMA he’s treading a similar path but with different singers, which include Skye and Juliette Lewis among many others. The theme this time round is 1980’s film soundtracks, and the best songs covered are Blondie’s ‘Call Me’, Prince’s ‘When Doves Cry’, David Bowie’s ‘Cat People’ and Ryuchi Sakamoto & David Sylvian’s ‘Forbidden Colours’. Hollywood Mon Amour is not quite up there with the Nouvelle Vague outings, but that’s only because some of the songs are not strong enough. No matter how good you are, there’s no point in trying to polish an 80’s embarrassment.
