‘Global electronica’, they call it – and here Seb Taylor and partner in crime Natasha Chamberlain translate their experiences of travelling through desert cultures on to record. This is in the most part a fascinating travel document, with beats that veer towards dub but never quite align themselves with any particular style or genre. The overall mood is one of inner relaxation, but that’s not to say the music is without emotion – with ‘Vijaya’ making an especially powerful impact. Some of the tracks push forward energetically, while others hold back and savour an atmosphere – while it’s always good to report a full bodied bassline, such as the one in ‘Calico Stomp’. Something a bit different this way comes.
