Kings Go Forth
Outsiders Are Back
Luaka Bop

This is a take on classic soul from Kings Go Forth, a Milwaukee based band making their debut album. Spearheaded by Andy Noble and Black Wolf, it’s a record that could easily have been made in the 1970s, with a splash of soul, disco, reggae and even the odd reference to rock around the edges. The songs are well written, if perhaps lacking the extra spark to make them totally memorable. That said, their talent for creating a summer vibe should not be overlooked, particularly when this is a record that will set comfortably in the company of Curtis Mayfield, especially if you’re talking about a groove like ‘Don’t Take My Shadow’. With a Tom Moulton remix thrown in for good measure, this is well worth looking in to if a bit of retro action is your thing.
