It’s a hack’s easy way out – mention the mysterious Peuple cubists’ car-chase/chirruping jazztazia, hip-hop breaks with piled on samples (that well-worn formula found within anyone who hides a secret inner b-boy), occasional sulkiness and sly humour, and come up with a French Herbaliser comparison. Thankfully, like Jake & Ollie’s crew, LPDL are very good at what they do, picking up the pace with drum & bass dressed in a long coat and dark glasses, mouthing the masterpiece ‘Boxin’ da Beat’ and getting the crackpot Puppetmastas and Ashley Slater-Maxi Jazz amalgam JC001 to keep their biznizz box-clever.
