LEE VAN DOWSKI & QUENUM
AS TOLD ON THE EVE OF…
SOMA

The Geneva duo shut themselves away and recorded their Soma debut in the Swiss Alps. The result is a gamut of spaced textures, deep house sensibility and soulfully melodic atmospherics. They can turn it on – as on the climactic, swirling acid of ‘Little Doll Chaos’ or restless ‘Lust Part 1’, but ‘Dune’ is pastorally gorgeous. Tracks like ‘Unholy Tundra’ could be looking out over the fjords but the minimal throb is usually in there as a mesmerising undertow. The singles are here – Hammond-led  ‘Ultimate Desert Ambassador’ and heaving rumble of most recent ‘Dude Bond 334’ [which on the 12″ comes with a truly spaced Dario Zencker remix]. Two men’s creative world which is well worth crashing into.
