Mano Le Tough’s second album finds him negotiating a number of different styles, in a way that brings together a coherent and cosmopolitan album to reflect the variety of music he plays as a DJ. Knowing how to blend light and shade is a critical part of his success, with vocal tracks like ‘Empty Early Years And The Seed’ complemented by the Balearic haze of ‘Sometimes Lost’, a lovely and rather sultry piece of work. He also has the confidence to make more of his vocals, with a quite ominous and persistent vocal clip “it’s closing in” on ‘The Space Between’, or a more thoughtful contribution to ‘Energy Flow’. The shuffling beat of ‘Half Closed Eyes’ works really well, as does the brooding and woozy ‘Generations’. The more you hear this album the more you’ll like it – because it’s the work of a producer with imagination and craft.
