Compost’s latest discovery are an intriguing proposition, and ‘Speed
Emotions’ is their first album – an enchanting deep house odyssey given an
air of other-worldliness in the vocals of Antje Seifarth. Tracks like
‘Eleanor Birdbath’ (a variant on ‘Eleanor Rigby’) demonstrate their ability
to funk out in a subtle way, this track winding in nimble guitar lines,
while ‘Pack’ is a grittier example of deep house. Seifarth’s vocals take it
to another level though, and combine well with the invention shown
elsewhere, the trio showing a dash of experimentation that keeps this album
well above the routine.
