Mauxam

Interchill

The reliable Interchill come back with Mauxuam, the performing name of Maurizio Liguori. His sound, as you’d expect, is more suited to horizontal listening, but is bass driven and quite dubby in places, with dark clouds often drifting across the sound picture. There isn’t perhaps quite enough variation between tracks, though the album does set a deep mood, nocturnal in effect. Only in Cloudcycle does his music acquire more warmth, offering a glimpse of solace among the slow moving patterns. It’s effective music and well written, but perhaps needs more light amongst its shade.
