Midnight Juggernauts
Dystopia
Siberia

Another week brings another fine Australian import, this time in the shape of Melbourne trio Midnight Juggernauts. Whereas Cut Copy’s latest has gone for poppier, sunshine sounds, these three have beefier drumbeats and cinematic chord changes to display. In tracks like ‘Into The Galaxy’ and ‘So Many Frequencies’, these are employed to dizzying effect, while the title track and ‘Aurora’ show a more sensitive side. It’s a measure of their progress that in supporting Holy Fuck and !!! at London’s Koko late last year they were on an equal musical footing, the combination of glittering synths and solid rhythm section right on the money. It’s a sound that transfers to record extremely well.
