MSTRKRFT
Fist Of God
Geffen

If you’re in need of a new party album, look no further than MSTRKRFT – as ‘Fist Of God’ is the sort of record to have a major beer spillage or hands to the sky moment with. The drinks accidents will probably occur during a song like ‘Bounce’, where the hook line “all I do is party” is used to brilliant effect, before it cuts to the electro mayhem of ‘Vuvuvu’. Meanwhile the hands will go skyward at John Legend’s vocal to ‘Heartbreaker’, or Lil’ Mo’s fine contribution to ‘It Ain’t Love’, a kind of collision between a heavier Daft Punk and Robyn. Through using a variety of different guests the Canadians keep the energy levels high all the way through, meaning that as soon as the album finishes, you’ll be wanting a repeat experience immediately. This is dance music stripped back to its first principles, and works a treat.
