For those that don’t know, Murder Dog is the original Hip-Hop bible for Southern music. It embraces other areas and really supports the independent scene out there, pushing and promoting artists and in some cases even being a big part of certain mainstream rappers claim to fame. Now they hook up with UK company Dirty Hog to release a European version of this excellent compilation. So what’s excellent about it? Simple… it’s the realness and sincerity of the whole project. Yes it does feature big names but alongside a whole host of talent that over in the UK hip-hop heads just aren’t getting to hear. From Paul Wall and Mike Jones to David Banner and H-Town legend K-Rino, this CD really has it all. For me I have to take my hat off to Island Gorrillaz from Charleston, South Carolina who kick the album off superbly with a track called ‘Beef’. On the level though, it’s all good. Nineteen tracks of real dirty, grimy Hip-Hop. Turn up ya speakers; this CD is murder, dawg!
