Canada made its presence felt in 2009, a lot because of the steady stream of unusual and distinctive releases on My Favorite Robot’s self-titled label. Their We Come In Pieces album was a corker and now it comes blessed with a shower of new treatments by names including Jonny White, Jordan Dare, VanderMeer, James Teej, Nitin, Carlo Lio, Pantone, Article and the mighty Kenny Glasgow, who himself made one of the year’s best albums. In fact, most of these names spearheaded a healthy new surge in electronic dance music. That MFR could gather them all under one roof is a measure of the impact they made.
