Deft minimal tech-house is Phantom Power’s preferred mode of communication for the dance floor. This brings together most (if not all) of the 12″ single releases under one title, but rather than being a singles collection, Phantom Power aka Rob Rives has edited and sequenced these tracks to run more like a traditional mix CD. Opening cut “Space In Your Face” tells you what the journey’s going to be like. Spaced, techy, a bit glitchey, it’s full of the bullish energy that characterises early UK techno. From here, it’s tribal techno via “Panawave 1”, modern acid on “Acid Uber Allies”, trippy electronica on “”Jesus Juice”, moving through more tracky, clubby techno and minimalism before washing it all out with the mellow “A Dollar & A Dream”. Well-crafted minimalism that will appeal to fans.
