Phonique
Kissing Strangers
Dessous Recordings

This is the third album for the flexible Phonique, who once again proves his versatility by getting together an album of cool, deep house, sun drenched Balearic vibes and even a curious bit of swing. Ironically it’s the swing that doesn’t work so well, with ‘A Change Receives The Blessing’ sounding a bit out of place, but elsewhere the sultry vibe is irresistible, and nowhere more so than in a cover of the smoky Kristine W house classic ‘Feel What You Want’. The bassy house numbers ‘The Passion’ and ‘Endless Love’ work really well, as does the more mellow ‘Thousand Finger Man’, and an excellent collaboration with Gui Boratto, ‘Blindfolded’. Well worth picking up, this is a structured and extremely classy piece of work.
