The third instalment in B12’s vault-trawling series focuses on many old techno lags’ favourite guise, Redcell. This is when the Detroit-influenced synth voyages set the controls for the heart of Uranus and took off on gorgeous vistas of infinite sonic beauty on tracks like ‘Paradroid’ and the amazing ‘Hall Of Mirrors’ with its bottomless strings. Sometimes the sound is lodged in that early 90s patter-groove but it’s remarkable how, of all dance music forms, B12’s diligent homages haven’t dated at all.
