The Dance Paradox
Delsin

The old masked man routine rears again, this Berlin-based mystery producer appearing on Amsterdam’s Delsin with one of the most startling techno-scapes of the year. Most of the tracks are mid-tempo, ultra-deep and laced with resonant drones and Detroit textures but it goes much deeper than that. For instance, the opening ‘Seduce Me’ brings in 90s Frankfurt-style acid and strings over its Motor City rumble to build swelling sheets of melody and uneasy atmospherics while ‘Bound [Part 1&2]’ makes full use of the live percussion which peppers the whole album as analogue snarls uncurl in UR-fashion. By tracks like ‘Globe’ and the squelch amoebas of ‘Rorschach’s Game’ its gone way beyond the usual electronic stratas with a dark emotion all of its own which deserves to be recognised as one of the major electronic music breakthroughs.
