There is a deep sense of joy in this album, the kind of joy that comes when you find yourself on a dance floor with hours of good music ahead of you. Riva Starr is a man who is able to bring that across in several forms of house music, so whether it’s the jaunty accordion of the endearing ‘I Was Drunk’, the thrilling Latin interlude of ‘Maria’, the cheeky piano of ‘Riva’s Boogaloo’ or the deeper, Mr Fingers-style homage of ‘Tribute’, there’s something for everyone. Throughout there is plenty to bring a smile to the face, and some of the older style Italian tracks here work a treat. A huge amount of fun.
